Founded in 1968, La Marca has made the pursuit of excellence its strength. Clinging firmly to its roots but looking to the future with important investments in technology and human capital, it has achieved the founders’ vision of creating internationally acclaimed premium wines, becoming the “ambassador” of Prosecco in the world today. Our commitment to our customers is demonstrated by the certifications of our organizational and production processes (IFS, BRC, ISO 22005, BIO) that are constantly being renewed.
In October 2021, La Marca obtained Equalitas certification as a “Sustainable Organization” (Sustainable Winery) responding to the concept of sustainability jointly on three mainstays: economic, social and environmental. This involved a strict and extensive protocol of work that regarded all phases of the production chain. The implementation of this Management System allowed various indicators to be analyzed and measured, including the water and carbon footprint of products, worker compensation and rights, the raw materials used and finally, the company’s relations with the local area.
All the initiatives implemented by the Company to ensure a sustainable approach:
· Photovoltaic plant, for a savings of 30 t/year of CO2;
· New company plant to improve sewage treatment and purification, optimizing energy consumption;
· Carbon Footprint indicator. The result for La Marca’s total CO2 production is currently 1.35 kg CO2 equivalent produced per bottle;
· Water footprint indicator;
· Certifications of organizational and production processes (IFS, BRC, ISO 22005, BIO) that are constantly being renewed.
However, our commitment starts in the vineyard where the grapes are first grown. This teamwork was done with the La Marca Group Wineries, in respect for the health of citizens and our winegrowing members:
· Monitoring of vineyards and coordination of associated wineries’ vinification processes;
· Vineyard management plan (pruning, plant growth, phytosanitary management, harvest, soil management and fertilization).

Since its founding in 1968, the company has incorporated Social Responsibility into its corporate mission, with the aim of promoting the economic fulfillment of its members through the development and growth of the local area, creating wealth and prosperity not only in the present, but also for the generations to come. Because of its legal status and size, La Marca has an important positive impact on the community that is achieved through investments and good management practices. The following are the activities on the social welfare front:
very close bond with the local area and community, as the majority of people working in La Marca Group’s wineries and vineyards were born and raised in the area;
La Marca has a fundamental appreciation of the value of young people, clearly demonstrated by the average age of the winery’s staff, which is 39 for office personnel and 37 for factory workers in the production department, but the youngest employees are 21;
involvement of high school students in training;
wine products and packaging products purchased from companies with fair production chains that reflect La Marca’s values as well as standards of efficiency and safety. The majority of the company’s suppliers are located within a few dozen kilometers of La Marca’s headquarters.
In order to reduce packaging, a number of practices have been identified and implemented together with dry material suppliers. For example, instead of using disposable cartons, plastic containers are being used, which, in addition to being sturdier, are cleaned each time and reused without generating waste;
The nitrogen plant installed at La Marca prevents the continuous outsourcing of the inert gas by way of road transport, thus reducing the environmental impact;
Photovoltaic panels for self-generated solar electricity. The goal is to gradually increase the amount of emission-free electricity produced this way and further reduce La Marca’s carbon footprint;
Water recovery and water reusage and conservation through a purification and recovery system constantly operating in the winery, essential during periods of high-water demand;
Digitization of documents with progressive reduction of paper use.
For more than 50 years we have been committed to protecting our local area and the thousands of families involved in the production chain, whose extraordinary work and total commitment make our company great. We are determined to nurture in the best possible way the economy of the Marca Trevigiana and the wonderful land that is home to us, which we have also chosen to protect through concrete actions, for example by contributing to the reforestation of the area affected by the terrible storm “Vaia.”
Even in the difficult pandemic years, we managed to demonstrate a clear vision and a much-needed drive for consolidation in the restart. Double-digit growth is an achievement of which we are proud and which allows us to contribute every day to the betterment of our community.
